I am not sure how many people actually believe the rhetoric that is spewed out of the mouths of the left, but if people actually think that there is not a consortium of Congressional led Democrat’s, among others, out there who would love nothing more than to remove our Second Amendment right to bear arms. And if they were to succeed, would that mean that these leaders would also have to give up their protection details who are all armed? The founding fathers were smart enough to include the right of the people to protect themselves from their government. That is why the right to bear arms was included in the constitution. If you allow the government to regulate what firearms you are allowed or not allowed to have, what is to stop them from just taking everything away from you. If they take firearms away, what will be next, your right to breath air. Once they have taken away your right and way to defend yourself and your families from those who would do you harm, how are you going to protect the other rights you have left? In this country every citizen has the right to form their own opinions on whatever topic you can come up with. If you are stripped of your right to bear arms, you are powerless to prevent anyone from infringing upon any other right that you think you have.
It makes me laugh how so many people in this country actually believe that taking away firearms from those who follow the laws and guidelines as set forth by our elected officials, will actually stop criminals from possessing firearms. If the criminals know that there is no way that you have a firearm, what is to stop them from making you do whatever you want? Those who think I am nuts, I suggest that you look up the Uniform Crime Report that is put together every year and look at the actual statistics, instead of listening to anyone who thinks that they know better than the rest of us. It has been proven time and time again that an armed society makes criminals think twice before acting. Why is that the states in this country that have laws that protect the rights of the people to bear arms usually have lower crime rates? It is not just a coincidence. Why is that?
Further more, every time we hear of some tragedy where a firearms is used in a mass attack on innocent civilians, do those who do not believe we should have firearms start talking about more gun control. How about another notion: ” Why don’t we start enforcing the laws that have already been enacted? Why is it that someone can commit a crime with a firearm and do less time than someone caught selling drugs? Maybe we should be asking our political leaders why we allow those who use firearms illegally, why they are not being punished with the same rigor as other offenses.
If you do not see the writing on the wall, then just take a look at New Zealand. On July 22, the Labour-led government has come up with new gun control laws to enact. This came as a result of the nations program to confiscate commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms from law abiding gun owners. I would love to see the statistics on how well this helps to curb gun violence in New Zealand. If anyone is curious how well these anti-gun laws have helped or hurt their society, why not look up the statistics in those countries that have confiscated firearms from society. This will give you the information that you want. If gun control is such a great thing, why is it that over the last few months, there is more violence in Chicago than has ever been? And for those who do not know, Chicago has one of the top gun control policies in the country. Why is their crime rate so high? Why don’t our political leaders talk about this? Why is it that this fact is not all over mainstream media? Because it would show that gun control does not take firearms out of the hands of criminals any more than banning terrorists from driving cars/trucks will stop terrorists from using car bombs. Wake up America.
