For those who are uncertain about the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, it states: ” A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.”
Now you will hear so many different reasons and assumptions of what the framers of the Constitution really meant. Most of these so called reasons behind this amendment have hidden agendas behind them to sell to the American People whatever belief or way of thinking they want you to come to. I am here to clear this issue up once and for all.
It is very simple concept to understand. First and foremost, one must take themselves back to the time period in which the amendment was written. For those who are not familiar with the History of America. At the time of the Revolutionary War, the Colonies were fighting against a concept of taxation without representation. When the settlers from the Colonies first set foot in America, they were doing so as an extension of Britain. The King was the almighty leader, leading from over seas. When the War was over and the Colonies were able to form their own form of Government and laws, the fore-fathers remembered what had just recently happened and wanted to prevent a “dictator,” at that time the King, from being able to rule over the people for which they had been elected to represent. Thus, they decided with great foresight to include the Second Amendment in the Constitution. This foresight would then prevent any future Government from turning on it’s people and forcing them do things that they do not want to do. This is why the Second Amendment was placed second after the First amendment, which states: ” Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
To hear the other side of the gun control debate, you would think that they believe that taking away guns from the law abiding citizens of the United States is for their own good. Well, history has taught many stories about Governments who have done things for the good of the people they represent, and it has back fired egregiously. Once you are unarmed, you have no way to forcibly protect yourself should your Government decide that they want to do something that you do not agree with. That is why we are a free country, because we can protect ourselves from our government should the need arise. I warn society not to get complacent in your government where you allow your rights to be stripped away from one at a time, until you have no rights left.
The answer to the overwhelming instances of gun violence in this country needs to be taken care of, but taking guns away from responsible, law-abiding gun owners does not take the guns out of the criminals hands, it just makes easier victims. If the Government takes away your guns, then what is to stop them from taking everything away from you.
